Saturday happenings...

What an enjoyable day this has been! I decided yesterday to make an appointment to get my hair cut today (a bit overdue, I might add). Armed with a photo of the style I liked, I headed to a familiar shop, but opted for a  new stylist. My cut ended up being a bit shorter than I intended, but not totally unfamiliar as I've worn it similarly in the past. It is a bit of a change though, having worn a medium bob for the last few years. I seriously feel as though I've lost 5 pounds (I have ALOT of hair)!

After finishing up at the salon, I made a quick run to Ross (always an adventure). Found some of my favorite scentsational candles (at an equally sensational price) and this cute little onyx heart...talk about a heart of stone!

Later in the day, my hubby and I headed to Senor Jaimes, a local Mexican Cantina and bar. We enjoyed an awesome meal, complete with tableside made guacamole. We both succeeded in eating WAY too much!

Hope you enjoyed your day as well!

Our little man...

For those who have read my older posts, you may recall my husband and I become first-time grandparents the end of last December. The downside...Jackson, his mommy and daddy live in North Carolina (a LONG way from Texas!!!) :(

We're anxiously awaiting Jackson and his mommy coming to Texas for a visit next month. Though we're disappointed Jackson's daddy won't be able to come along, we're proud of his service to our country. Our military and their families sacrifice SO much for us all! PLEASE remember them in your thoughts and prayers.

In true "Nana" fashion, I just had to share this recent picture of our little man...

Thanks for stopping by...Along the way!

Dear Daddy...

Our family was so young when cancer took you from us. You were only 37...I was the tender age of 12. So much has happened in the 41 years since we were last together...

...teenage years
...boys
...graduation
...THE boy
...wedding
...children (your grandchildren)
...losing mom
...me becoming a first-time "Nana" (your great-grandson!).

I cherish special memories of you that remain...a red and white ruffled dress embroidered with the phrase, "My heart belongs to Daddy"...my first diamond in a small heart pendant (Mom told me years later that you wanted my first diamond to be from you). I must tell you, I still get teary thinking about how much I miss you. There was so much we weren't able to share...yet I'm so thankful for the time we did have. How `bout I catch you up when we meet again?
And Daddy, just so you know...my heart still belongs to you!

Happy Father's Day, I love you!

Texas....F I G H T ! ! ! !

My husband and I attended games 1 and 2 of the University of  Texas versus Arizona State University Super Regional in Austin Friday and Saturday. Arizona won game 1 on Friday :( and the Horns came back to win game 2 on Saturday :) I'm here to tell you, the atmosphere of the Horns playing a home game is addicting!

One of my husbands co-workers (a first-year coach who's also a good friend of our son) wanted to do something to thank my hubby for his help and support during the school year and surprised him with tickets to games...how sweet was that?!!!

Game 3 is today...the winner advances to the College World Series in Omaha. Our house echoes the chant sure to be engulfing Disch-Falk Field...
Texas...FIGHT!!!!!

Domestic puttering...

It's been a busy week! My husband and I made a quick trip to Houston last weekend to visit our son and his girlfriend. Of course, going to Houston ALWAYS includes catching an Astro game and this trip was no different (even if our son didn't work for the Astros grounds crew, my hubby would find a way to work a game into the itinerary). I can't complain though...he patiently worked in a few shopping stops to include Home Goods. :))))

I spent Saturday "deep" cleaning our master bedroom. I've come to the conclusion that I need to give up housework for my health...I'm a bit sore from moving furniture around! ;)

I've included a few photos of recent finds that I finally worked into my home decor. One of my favorites is the little arched window... it's backed with metal and was the perfect little shabby chic accessory for my America Restored magnets.

I've been searching for a black and white magnetic memo holder for my kitchen...found this one on clearance at Hobby Lobby and the "Home" themed one worked well in my bedroom entry...a Home Goods find!

I decided to move my Thonet chair from my bedroom to the main entryway. Found this cute little key pillow at Stein Mart and slung it over the chair back to dress it up a bit. I'd been "eyeing" this perpetual calendar and snatched it up when it was half price!

I wanted to add a little something to the metal sconces flanking the window bank in our living room, but wasn't feeling silk flowers...found these cute wall pockets and opted to fill them with rolled scrapbook paper.

Loved these vintage look jars from Tuesday Morning! I'm a sucker for signage!

Hope you've enjoyed your weekend...I'm off to bake my hubby chocolate chip cookies, as promised!
Have a blessed week!
