Stormy Projects...
One of my favorite perks since retiring last September is being able to stay home when the weather's nasty! There's just something about being in my home on a nasty day that makes my heart happy. With possible severe weather forecast for our region this afternoon...once I heard thunder rumbling, I dashed outside in hopes of capturing a photo of lightning. I looked down the corner and saw the rain working up the street. In a matter of seconds it was raining sideways and the wind began to blow like crazy!. Inside I went (without my photo). Mother Nature puts on quite a show!
With Spring being the season of renewal, I've been making simple decor updates for a change of indoor scenery....
New window toppers for the common living area add a punch of color from the previous black...
I just love the fabric...a montage of vintage postal stamps and postmarks. I was drawn by the colors...the design was a bonus in my book!!!! I still need to update my throw pillows, but haven't found any options that knock my socks off.
On to the kitchen...
I've been on the lookout for a black and white check tablecloth for the LONGEST time and finally found one that was workable. I also found a couple cute vintage-look fruit table runners that blend nicely.
A few vignettes...
Enjoy your weekend!

Botanical Gardens...
My friend and I braved the STRONG South Texas winds today and ventured out to the Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens annual "Big Bloom" event. We enjoyed wandering through the gardens...the butterfly house was my favorite! We also perused the plants available for purchase. We both ended up selecting a Desert Rose plant...a popular species with attendees!
Here's a few photos to share...
Nature is SO amazing!!!!

Early Easter Gifts...
What a wonderful pre-Easter gift...the blooms on my little Magnolia tree have begun to open! The blooms are nearly bigger than the tree itself...this is definitely an ambitious little tree!
And now, on...
Such a heavenly fragrance from those lovely blooms! Such beauty nature provides, to brighten the upcoming Easter morn...

Holy Week...
If your schedule is anything like mine, it will be full of church related activities this Holy Week. As Easter draws near, many of us look forward to spending time with friends and family, Easter Egg hunts, barbecues, etc. It is my hope for you, that in whatever Easter activity you plan, you find time to reflect on the true events of Easter...the Passion of Christ and his joyous resurrection!
Wishing you a blessed Holy Week!

Spring is here...
Right on cue, my Amaryllis majestically announce,
SPRING IS HERE!!!
Signs of Spring abound in my little corner of the world ...
The mere fact that these budding and blossoming beauties are still intact given the strong Texas winds of late is a miracle in itself! ;)

Perfectly imperfect...
Funny how one project snowballs into another, and another, and another...
Cleaning my linen closet led to sheets I no longer needed, which led to dismantling my grown sons' bedroom (he's be out of our nest for several years now so it was PAST time). I've been slowly working to make the room presentable as a guest room, but was faced with this...
...an assortment of hand weights and a not so attractive weight bench. My husband uses the weights from time to time and I didn't want to completely put him over the edge by not only removing all of our sons' "home roots", but relegating the weights to the garage as well :) So what's a girl to do? As I mentioned previously, I've pinned gobs of projects I'd like to try in Pinterest. One being, rag rugs (remember all those unneeded linens?). Let me just preface by saying, I do not know how to crochet. But thanks to some great tutorials, I picked up enough to create a "country shabby chic" cover that hides the bench and weights. It's perfectly imperfect and fits in nicely with the existing bed linens.
I l♥ve it when a plan comes together!!!
