Bye Bye Birdie...

I took a few quick photos of our Mockingbird family yesterday...which turned out to be good timing as it appears today they've left the nest! The pictures aren't the greatest, but I didn't want to get too close...poor mom and dad were under enough stress keeping those babies fed and chasing off other birds. Nesting is slower this year at our house...think we had a total of five nests last spring between the front and backyards (all Mockingbirds)...those are some busy birds!

Watchful parent...

I hope you've had a restful weekend in preparation for the challenges of the week ahead!
Until next time...

  1. Good Morning my friend, Kuki

I just woke up and found lovely pictures of birds. Oh, they make nests anualy in your yard.
How wonderful to have rich nature around you.
Hope babies will be able to leave nest without hindrance.

    Love and hugs, Orchid

  3. Hi, Kuki, I'm new here to your blog because you were sweet enough to comment on my blog, so now we've met. Love the bird pictures. We have a lot of birds here, not all of them much appreciated. The mockingbirds are fun to watch because they are so tenacious. Probably our most prolific birds are doves (all kinds), followed by pigeons (my least favorite). But we have lots & lots of hummingbirds, too. One of my favorite birds to watch are the roadrunners. They are truly so much like the cartoon character! Hope you have a great week!

  4. Hello Kuki....thank you for leaving a comment on my post. So glad to be here. I love birds too. We have so many different kinds that visit our feeders. Watching them out our diningroom window is a real treat for us.
We wake up to the birds singing this time of year, and it's so refreshing.
    Enjoy your week.

  5. I'm glad you shared this story. Isn't nature sweet!? I have a nest every year right in the arch of my rose trellis! I love watching the birds nurture the babies until flight time! They trust us and never bother us when we pass under our trellis! It's a sweet commingling!

  6. I love to watch the birds. I have hummingbird feeders around our back porch and we love to watch them feed. There are a number of mockingbirds here too (naturally since it is our state bird!) and our pup loves to chase them. She has caught three and we told her that they were going to put her in jail because she caught the state bird. But she just ignores us and chases them anyway. Have a wonderful time watching them!

  7. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog, Kuki...and I love your name! It's very interesting. For some reason, it made me think of my mother, who was named Sieglinde, but everyone called her Siggi.I look forward to reading more of your blog.

  8. It's so lovely that you have all of this happening right in your own garden! We only have squawking crows and magpies in our garden at the moment...not really the nicest birds to listen to!

Hope your weekend is a good one. Enjoy the lovely weather!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.
