The Witch is in...

Greetings all...
With record heat here in South Texas, it doesn't feel much like fall y'all!  :((((
None-the-less, I drug my Halloween decorations down from the attic yesterday and thought I'd share a few photos...

...Fall is definitely wreath season, which works for me...I'm a wreath junkie!

...and of course, broomsticks, hats, Black cats, ghosts and goblins!

Let the creativity begin...

Hello all...
Today marks my 13th day of retirement...it's beginning to feel a bit more real :) I must say I was surprised at the number of friends and former colleagues expressing genuine concern about my mental health post-retirement. Most seemed to believe I would go "bonkers" with boredom. I hope to prove them wrong!. The plan...I enjoy crafting, gardening, and all things domestic and now have the time to tackle projects I've had waiting in the wings for years. I became intrigued with Modge-Podge image transfer and thought I'd give it a try using some wood pieces I had on hand. I settled on a vintage graphic from The Graphics Fairy  http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/2011/01/vintage-clip-art-bees-with-honeycomb.html and went to work. I have much room for improvement, but thought the result wasn't bad for my first attempt.

Let the projects begin!!!

Grandparents Day...

You may not have realized 9-11-11 was also Grandparents Day...it shared a rather somber day of festivities this year. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to pay tribute, however humble, to my grandparents. Wonderful "Grandma and Grandpa" memories have stayed with me throughout the years. I hope the memories my husband and I share with our grandchildren will bring a lifetime of smiles and happiness to their faces. And being a Nana, you KNOW I have to include a photo of my grandson in his UT finest. (we currently have one grandchild, but hope to be blessed with more in the future (no hurry)!

Gladys and Frank Johnson (my mom's parents)

Vera and Ernest Smith (my dad's parents)

We remember...

The attacks of 9-11, devised by cowards to shake our great nation, FAILED! American resolve continues to soar and prosper. We mourn the loss of innocent citizens who perished from this world that fateful day. Let us forever honor their memory…never forget, never falter, never waiver from freedoms sweet enfold.

Happy place...

Puttering around the kitchen...nothing like homemade Chocolate Chip cookies to take you to a "happy place" :)  On tap...my husband and I look forward to spending time with our son who's visiting this weekend [in between his duck hunting ;)].

Wishing you a blessed weekend!
